Luke 4

Luke 4 – Sept 15 by Lindsay Cordell

S - Luke 4:42-43 “Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place.  And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, ‘I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.’”

O - Jesus had just finished healing “every one of them” that came to Him for healing.  He began healing as the sun was setting and finished up the following morning - He literally healed people with various diseases all night long!  He healed all that came; yet, when it was time to move on, He did.  He obeyed the will of the Father, not the will of man.  The crowd witnessed miracle after miracle and desired to keep Jesus with them.

A - Can you imagine being touched and healed by Jesus, looking into His eyes full of love and compassion for you?  Can you imagine the lives that were forever changed because of those miracles?  I imagine the atmosphere of that place - people filled with wonder and adoration for Jesus.  I know I wouldn’t want Him to leave!  I would want to stay in that place of wonder forever.  Yet, Jesus knew His mission and He knew it was time to leave to continue on His journey.  He didn’t allow the will of man - even those that adored Him - to influence His kingdom assignment.  Who do you listen to?  Do the voices of others impact your decisions over the voice of God?  What is God asking you to do this very day?

P - Father, thank You for loving us and thank You for Your Word!  I pray that today we would seek to listen to Your voice above all others.  Help us seek Your favor and not man’s.  I pray for those that are seeking for direction and clarity - those seeking for answers.  Would you help them hear Your voice so clearly?  Forgive us for seeking the approval of man over doing Your will.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
